What Alt Tags and Title Tags are in HTML?

Alt tags:  An alt tag, also known as alt attribute and alt description, is an HTML attribute applied to image tags to provide a text alternative for search engines.

Tittle tags: A title tag is an HTML element that specifies the title of a web page. A page’s title tag is displayed as part of the search snippet in a search engine results page (SERP). It appears as the clickable headline for the search result and is important for user experience, SEO, and social sharing. The title tag of a web page is meant to be an accurate and concise description of a page's content.

How alt tags and title tags improve SEO in my e-commerce website:

Alt tags provide context to what an image is displaying, informing search engine crawlers and allowing them to index an image correctly. However, not only do alt tags help search engine crawlers, not setting alt tags  for your images can have a detrimental effect on the ranking of your web pages. (Ltd, I.V)

Just like any other page element, you can write your title tags with SEO in mind and optimise them for search engines. There are several elements to this. Because both humans and algorithms will be using it, you have to craft your title tag to be easily legible for both. This makes writing a title tag both an art and a science. Since the title tag is what shows up in SERPs, it's important that it accurately reflects what the page is about to encourage people to click on it. It also needs have keywords that tell search engines what the page is about.

The title is the first chance you get as an e-commerce merchant to grab the attention of potential customers and stand apart from the competition. A poorly written title tag can reduce click throughs, which is an element that search engines use in their rankings. (BigCommerce)
